In Direct Response to High and Low
Sometimes (often, most of the time?), I forget I am a “Zen Practitioner.” This is usually a good thing because Lord knows nobody would want to be around a stinky Zen person, offering up teachings for whatever ails you. And yet as the years go on, I actively seek teachings less and less. Silly, right? I guess some kind of complacency, or belief that I will run into whatever I need to hear, has set in. So imagine my surprise when I listened to a talk by my teacher, Geoffrey Shugen Arnold, Sensei, that a lot of people said I should hear, and it addressed, directly, my agitation from the other day of seeking my place amidst the creative crowd, and much, much more.
